OK, Bryan...here it is:
Your engine must be cold. Have a beer first.
Remove Seat, Tank, Left Side Chrome Head Cover, and both valve adjustment covers.
Using compressed air, blow out plug cavity before removing plug.
 Remove Spark Plug.
Using a large fender washer and pliers, unscrew the alternator cover plug.
 Place transmission in Neutral.
Using a 17mm socket and ratchet, rotate crankshaft clockwise until index mark on alternator shaft aligns with notch in threaded plug hole. This will place piston on Top Dead Center. (TDC) Reach into valve adjustment openings and feel rockers. Both intake and exhaust rockers must have play; if not, then you are not on TDC of the compression stroke. Rotate crankshaft another full turn and re-check rockers for free play. When you are at TDC and have play in both rockers, then you are ready to adjust the valve lash.
 Have another beer.
The valve lash range is .003" to .005" Get out your .004" feeler gauge and set 'em to that.
Put it all back together, but check your plug; wire brush and regap to .031" to .035" if necessary.
That's all...
